Job Goal

To provide our students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become life-long learners and responsible citizens by:

Providing instructional and clerical support under the supervision of the classroom teacher


  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. AA degree or, 60 semester hours from accredited university, or satisfactory results on an AZ state-approved competency exam
  3. Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer and related software
  4. Satisfactory criminal background check

Duties and Responsibilities

Contribute toward a positive, professional working and learning environment by:

  1. Responding to all internal and external customers, as it relates to job, in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner
  2. Being responsible, reliable and punctual
  3. Maintaining courteous relationship with students, staff, parents, and treating others with respect
  4. Directing constructive criticism toward improving the district
  5. Exercising positive problem solving behavior and conflict resolution skills
  6. Adhering to the dress code appropriate for the site and job
  7. Sharing sensitive student and staff information on a need to know basis only
  8. Participating in student's daily school experience in a constructive manner

Contribute toward productive, efficient operation by:

  1. Instructing, within close proximity to the teacher, individual students or small groups of students to reinforce material or skills initially introduced by the teacher
  2. Translating, when required, (both oral and written) for parents, students, staff and others
  3. Distributing and collecting workbooks, papers and other materials for instruction
  4. Copying, collating and filing worksheets and requested documents
  5. Developing and creating bulletin boards, signs, borders and classroom displays
  6. Assisting with assessments, grading papers and completing records under the supervision of the certified teacher
  7. Operating and caring for equipment used for instructional purposes
  8. Assisting with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, lunch periods and field trips
  9. Alerting the teacher to any problem or special information about a student
  10. Maintaining the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed
  11. Being flexible and performing other duties relating to general job function as assigned by supervisor

  1. Making the well being of students the fundamental value in all decision making
  2. Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships
  3. Accepting responsibility for student well being and safety while they are in employee's care
  4. Being alert to and reporting the possibility of any substance use, child abuse, or dangerous situation based upon daily observation
  5. Assisting in the maintenance of a quiet and orderly classroom environment
  6. Operating and caring for school district's equipment properly
  7. Following district policies as outlined
  8. Performing all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed by supervisors
