Recognition Reception

The Chandler Education Foundation awarded more than $63,000 in scholarship money to Chandler Unified School District students on May 2, 2012, during the Foundation's annual evening of awards and recognition celebrating the accomplishments of CUSD high school students.

The recognition ceremony, which was held at The Castle at Ashley Manor, was generously sponsored by The Castle at no cost to the Foundation.  Refreshments were provided by the Hamilton High School Culinary Department, and the Perry High School Quintet provided the entertainment for the evening.  Our CUSD students and their families were invited to celebrate the district"s top students, take pictures and meet Chandler Education Foundation Board Members and community scholarship donors.

More than $48,000 was given out in the form of community-donated scholarships, with 66 scholarships going to deserving seniors from Basha High, Chandler High, Chief Hill Learning Academy, Hamilton High, Hamilton Prep and Perry High School.

An additional 15 IMPACT Chandler Scholars (ICS) Scholarships were awarded in the amount of $1,000 each to students from Basha, Chandler, Hamilton and Perry High school.  A total of 160 students from the class of 2012 met the ICS criteria of completing 100 hours of community service, maintaining a 3.4 GPA and a 95% attendance rate.  Of these students, 85 submitted applications for one of the ICS scholarships by submitting an essay explaining how their community service impacted them, their community and will impact their future.  The decision was a very difficult one as so many of these students submitted fantastic essays.  We congratulate all of these students on their great accomplishements and the positive impact they have made in their community!

Carol Baldwin from Chandler High School and Brian Roach from Hamilton High School were also honored for the Innovations Grant they each received from Intel.  The project goals and objectives for these grants focused on the use of 21st Century technology, S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) integration and also required a service learning component.  Congratulations to Carol and Brian for their great work and innovative thinking.  Click here for more information on Carol and Brian's winning grants.
