Dear Hancock Families,
 
What a fun year we’ve been having! We are thankful to have so many involved and supportive parents. The dedication and enthusiasm of the Hancock staff serve as good models to our students. We appreciate the efforts of our students as they strive for excellence. Hancock Elementary is a great place to be!
 
Third quarter is important! Students are preparing for state testing that is coming up in April. All students in grades 2-6 will be taking state-mandated tests. Second grade will take the Standford 10 and grades three thru six will take the AIMS exam. Please mark your calendars that state testing will occur April 16th—23rd. Hancock is an excelling, A rated school. We ask that you schedule appointments
outside of these dates so we can test at our best.
 
As you know, Hancock earned the grade of an “A” for the 2011-2012 school year on AIMS and we have every confidence that our students will continue to do well. Teachers have worked diligently to prepare our students. Parents can help students perform better on tests by ensuring a good night’s sleep, a good breakfast and arriving to school on time. Talk to your child about the test they will be taking. Let them know your expectations. Give them encouragement, letting them know they will do a good job if they try their best.
 
I would like to thank you for your continued support of our teachers and staff members. Hancock families are a crucial to the success of our school and to the success of your child. Your input is always welcomed. Working together we can achieve greatness.
 
Parent input forms for student placement for the 2013-2014 school year will be sent home on April 1st. These forms should be returned to the office no later than April 12th.
 
Fourth quarter is such an exciting time of the year. Please check the weekly notes home and the website for upcoming events. In closing, I invite you to stop by and eat lunch with your child any day. Most days we are able to eat outside and we are really enjoying it. Thank you for your continued support!
